I am a jubilant person who wants to embrace every day. I have a passion for writing and the news. I figure there is enough bad news out there, so my goal is to tell the good stories that are hidden — those “diamonds in the rough” that the normal crummy media overlooks. This blog will be a spot where you can find positive bits of news and encouragement for your life.
My life has been full of adventures — from traveling to the Philippines, Singapore, Hungary, Cameroon, the Dominican Republic, Canada and Mexico on missions trips, to getting to interview quasi-famous people like J. Clifford Hudson, the CEO of Sonic, Delirious?, Stacie Orrico, and Shiny Toy Guns. Writing is my passion. I want to use words to impact people to grow closer to God and to discover better what their purpose is.
I received my bachelor’s degree in journalism from Oral Roberts University in 2005. Since then, I lived in the Philippines for six months doing missions work, and worked at The Oklahoman newspaper for a year and a half as an online editor.
In December 2007, I moved to Houston to work as an online editor for an oil and gas magazine. In 2009, I decided to make the transition to teaching, and I am now a journalism and English teacher at a Houston high school.
I also have my own online, print and video editing company, Site To See Editing. I love serving in Lakewood Church’s Kidslife ministry. I ran the Houston Marathon on Jan. 18, 2009, which was my greatest physical accomplishment so far. I love sailing, watercolors, reading, acting, reading, watching The Office, and hanging out with all the great people God has placed in my life.
